Gravity Water Filter-4000L, Vortopt

I'm making emergency bags for my wife and 3 kids to keep in their cars.

I've reviewed several water filtration systems, and so far this is the only one that gives you a tube to throw into the water instead of trying to bend over with your face 6 inches from the water.
It has everything you need to collect and drink water. This will fit perfect in the emergency bag and give me peace of mind knowing my family has the tools they need to hold them over until I can get to them.

The filter size is .01 microns. Which is small enough that I would be ok using it in streams even if there are raccoons around.

This comes with attachments to make it easy to attach to standard water bottles or to a water faucet or hose.

It comes with tubing to make it even easier to access water sources or to use the gravity method.

This has everything I want in a filter. It has a good enough filter that I can use it anywhere. It is compact, yet versatile. Great design. Clear directions. Amazing price.

I have a shorter one of this same product. This one is longer and presumably, will filter even better because of its added length?

I backpack frequently in the summer so I am always concerned about water sources. I usually try to bring enough water for my needs but I like to go places where there are water sources in case I absolutely need it. I've never had a Sawyer squeeze but have been eyeing one and this appears to be a good substitute. I tried it on all my different size and brand plastic water bottles and it fit every single one. Yes, I use plastic but I reuse the bottles, some I've had for years. I am not every carrying a Nalgene or anything heavy on trail. I would rather not use a bladder. I usually carry at least 2-3 water bottles of different sizes. If needed, I can use one empty water bottle as a "dirty" reservoir and twist this filter on top. This water filter works, is lightweight, fits all my bottles and is easy to use.

This product is a small filter for making water drinkable. It it's very useful when out camping or in other survival situations, and can be used to purify water from a stream or other body of water. I tried it first with regular tap water just to see what it would do, and it was great. I didn't notice the little black crumbs that you'll see even with a Brita filter, the water tasted fine with no additional aftertaste. We did take it out on a hike after that and used it to drink from a rolling stream. Again this is a water source that's relatively safe, but once again the filter appeared to not only clear the water but make the flavor taste neutral.

I can't recommend enough that everyone have a few water filters on hand. You never know when there's going to be a boil order in your area, or when you're going to need to take water from a suspicious source. This one has worked well so far, although I have not placed too many demands on it. I will probably continue to sample different waters with it, and as long as they continue to come out clear, I will continue to use and trust this product. It says it can purify up to 4,000 liters and if that's true that is a true lifesaver!

I got this for foreign travel to bring along just in case. I always bring a filtered water bottle on my trips to Peru because inevitably I will run out of store-bought bottled water and have to drink filtered tap water at my wife's family home. This will give me yet another option and smaller form factor for those types of semi-emergency situations where I don't want to deal with the sickness that I always get on such trips. That said I haven't tried this yet as we're not going overseas until next year. I can also use this on extreme hiking/camping trips and will always bring it along just in case a tame trip somehow becomes an extreme survival situation. Unfortunately this does need a water bottle to screw onto, so a lifestraw or likewise device is even better in that situation. Water is the first necessity you'll need to survive, so having this is priceless.
